Fashion Weekend Davao (FWD), the region's premier fashion and design platform, returns to Ayala Malls Abreeza on May 24-26, 2019–right during National Heritage Month–and it promises to be bigger and better than the last.
Ayala Malls Abreeza and the Davao Fashion Design Council have welcomed a powerhouse of collaborators for such an ambitious undertaking. These include as co-operators the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the Department of Tourism, the Visit Davao Summer Festival, and the Department of Trade & Industry. The local government units of Davao City, Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, and Compostela Valley also take part in the project. Curating partners consist of the Philippine Women’s College of Davao’s Artisanal Heritage Studies & Creative Enterprise Center, the Creative Innovators Programme of the British Council, and the Commission on Higher Education’s Institutional Development & Innovation Grants. Also pledging its support is creative industry partner Mindanao Trade Expo Foundation Inc.
At the media launch on May 21, coming together to provide more exciting details about FWD 2019 were Ayala Malls Abreeza Marketing Manager Ruby Ochoa, Davao Fashion Design Council President Dodjie Batu and Secretary Emi Englis, Department of Trade & Industry’s Marie Anne How, Visit Davao Summer Festival’s Tessa Piansay, and Stellar: Mindanao Heritage Fashion Designers Competition 2016 Grand Winner Wilson Limon.
Stellar 2019 finalists Ron Xavier Santos, Toping Zamora, Rogie Vergara, Jr., Kenny Ladaga, Bonie Adaza, Christon Soto Bautista, Joao Tarepe, and Raymond Umpa also gave guests a sneak peek into the collections they’ll be unleashing on the runway on May 25.
